The Apostles in Acts 1: 14, were constantly united in prayer. Missing from them was Judas, the one who took a bribe to betray Jesus. Judas was not the only one who had shortcomings among Jesus's disciples. Peter denied Jesus three times. James and John thought they were better than the other disciples and deserved a special place with Jesus. While Thomas doubted Jesus' resurrection unless he saw the nail marks in his hands and put his finger where the nails were, and put his hand into his side (John 20: 25). The difference with Peter and Thomas from Judas, is that when they were confronted by the truth, they all acknowledged that Jesus is "My Lord and my God!" (John 20:28). They trusted in Jesus after their shortcomings and had faith in Jesus.
Although Judas was remorseful, he lacked faith that Jesus would forgive him, he trusted himself more than he trusted Jesus. Proverbs 3:5-6 says "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

We do outreach beacuse Jesus did it and he told us to do it as well, he also showed us how to do it. John 4 shows us who Jesus also reached out to, here we see Jesus talking with a Samaritan woman who was a social outcast. In Luke 19: 1 - 10, Zaccheraus is also another person that Jesus first reached out to when he entered Jericho, he chose to dine with him. In both scenarios Jesus's outreach was to the social outcasts and sinners, he made a point to surround himself with them because Luke 5:31-32 says "“It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

This week we read from Philippians 4 and we learned about the importance of our thoughts. God's Word tells us not to worry, but to pray instead. It also tells us to fix our thoughts on things that are true and pure and admirable. Let's use our minds wisely.

This week we looked at Philippians 3, which talks about the priceless value of knowing Jesus. All our earthly efforts and accomplishments are relatively worthless, compared to the importance of salvation, which can only happen through Jesus. Nothing on earth as important as knowing Jesus.

The Bible says we should have the same attitude that Jesus had. Attitudes are important, and choosing our attitude is a gift which nobody can take away from us. Jesus demonstrated an attitude of humility, sacrifice and service, not self-interest or personal gain. He chose obedience to God over everything else.
